So I hate jeans. And what I hate even more than jeans is G Star. What did I buy?
G Star jeans. I think it could be because the cool guy from G Star in Sydney said these jeans were the new jeans for girls - cuffed drop crotch x boyfriend.

I stopped by the Claire Inc and The New Guard Sale at Elisa Jane Studios and needless to say it was a bad idea. I came out with a pair of vintage Moschino drop peace earrings (clip on because there ain't no piercings in these ears)... an investment piece I think?

If you are looking for a knuckle duster that will not only protect you when you are roaming the streets and dark alleys, as well as looking for a piece of jewellery which is chunky, matte, amazingness with crystals and shards and whatever other cool shit MANIAMANIA can produce, this brand is for you. Why have a pretty crystal or stone to wish upon when you could put it in a brass cage and sit it on a ring?

I feel like these images have a. put a hex on me or b. taken me back to the days when 'Charmed' was the coolest show going around town and I secretly wished I had a book of magic and three sisters.

Here in lies my one issue with the brand. Who do I like better fronting the campaign: Abbey Lee Kershaw or my one obsession Bambi Northwood Blyth. As long as Abbey Lee keeps in that nose ring and red lips, she is almost topping the charts with this little number. Note to self: If you are going to create a jewellery line - only use the best to promote it (see: Erin Wasson for Low Luv - honey I love thee, but get someone even more amazing to front your campaigns)

So while I try and find a magic book to zorbe me these rings from another rhelm, you should look at the rest of the collection. They always say demons are the attractive ones that reel you in, so I'm telling you, if demons were jewels, they would be found at MANIAMANIA.

Date Night #1 - Movie with your beau with matching vintage t-shirts and a pair of black skinny leg jeans = relaxed effort, maximum result.

Date Night #2 - Out to watch a band play in a cool yet seedy pub, ready to have a couple of drinks and chill in the beer garden by the open fire. Flannel shirt and khaki anorak = indie look check. Clogs = alternative to when you don't feel like wearing boots and hat to make you look like a hot version of Indiana Jones.

Date Night #3 - A quick trip to the takeaway store and ready to head home with your hair pulled back and flats (because let's face it, it's Ugg boots and trackies when you walk through the door)

Date Night # 4 - Drinks with your partner at a quite nearby bar with some tapas on the side. It's black all the way (in the hope you don't get noticed whilst trying to have a relaxing night out)

Date Night # 5 - Dinner reservations at a new restaurant with friends - it's relaxed, you're comfortable and you're still in the right sort of clothes to head to a cocktail lounge afterwards.

Date night doesn't have to mean a mini dress and sky high heels.

Your man/woman would much rather you could keep up with a normal walking pace to get to your choice of destination, and be able to not have to worry if you'll get cold sitting outside when they go for their ciggy or chat with a mate. Think rugged up. Think cool jackets, tights and a beanie. If it works for the likes of Alexa Chung and Erin Wasson - it can work for you. Say no to uncomfortable nights out. Say yes to styled up grunge and covering up for once. Save those mini dresses and short shorts for hitting the clubs when you'll be sweating up a storm. Don't let date night be a bore or a chore.

While Barbie has been resized and filled out her micro shorts and crop tops, models are swinging the other way. These elite young girls are saying goodbye to a bust and a waist, and hello to a skeletal frame enough to rival Barbies pre-existing unattainable body. Forget the curves of Cindy Crawford, as Size Zero reigns supreme amongst the new comers to the catwalk.

It is these individuals and celebrities alike that are influencing young girls around the world, in an issue that is of increasing concern. Society is starving for survival against what seems to be the majority.

Celery, tomatoes, water and exercise is the order of the day for models around the globe attempting to obtain the emaciated frame that we know as Size Zero. While these already grey hound-like figures attempt further weight loss, unnecessary pressure is being placed on today’s society to achieve the seemingly ‘normal’ body.

It is not hard to think why so many girls have turned to developing eating disorders such as Bulimia and Anorexia Nervosa when these coat hanger frames are constantly promoted in magazines and on the runway. With the headlines such as ‘How I get my 5 million dollar body,’ and celebrities such as Nicole Richie shrinking to Size 0 on a regular basis, young girls can’t help but look up to these ‘role models’ and long for the lifestyles and bodies of the rich and the famous.

Whether you’re flicking through the pages of a glossy high fashion magazine or a trashy weekly magazine, young women are being scrutinised for their appearance. Circling ‘problem areas’ in magazines are just one of the ways the fashion industry and Hollywood is encouraging eating disorders and body dismorphic disorders. They may as well be saying, ‘Honey if there is a bulge over your bikini or a hint of cellulite on your legs, stay indoors and don’t come out until it’s gone.’

Just the memo you want your 10 to 18 year old daughter to be receiving at such a crucial stage of their development.

Milan may have introduced a policy against ultra skinny models, declining to use girls weighing under a certain body mass index for their height, but this isn’t enough. Why can’t other fashion capitals follow suit? Has the definition of ‘The body’ defined the fashion industry to such an extent that soon enough high fashion will only be found in the children’s floor in department stores?

Take one look into chain store ‘Supre’ and see just how many X’s are lined up in front of the size Small.

I couldn’t fit one arm into two legs in a pair of leggings if I tried. Yet this is what girls perceive as normal and attainable, but at what cost?
The only action being taken in Australia has been from the Minister for Youth Kate Ellis putting forth the ‘Voluntary Industry Code of Conduct on Body Image.’ This code is a set of guidelines to encourage the media and magazines to promote healthy body image.

While this may seem like a step forward in the great weight debate, society still needs to understand, this code rests on the ethical procedures and values of the journalists.

I understand that designers make their sample size to fit these models, and those models are performing a job to most effectively display the garments, but we should be educating young girls on nutrition and self confidence to deter their influence amongst teenagers.

It’s all about the small things when it comes to the Size Zero debate. Whether it is a store stocking only up to a certain size, magazines always digitally enhancing and manipulating images or using models so young that they’ve barely reached their pubescent years, society is being thrown a message.

The younger generation is constantly given the message about childhood obesity; to such an extent that maybe they are merely accepting what we are verbally feeding them.

Schools need to be educating children, we need to be educating children, and magazines need to remember their social responsibility by informing society when images are digitally enhanced or manipulated.

While we may long for the return of our youth and staying radiant and thin, the fashion industry need not hold onto these values. There is demand for fashion in society, but there shouldn’t be a demand for the skeletal figures that currently accompany the idea of good taste.

Alber you're crazy, but I like you. Seriously. This ad campaign makes my heart hurt. Although give me diamonds anyday over Lanvin for H&M. Actual Lanvin, knock your socks off. This is on par with King Karl's french take on high fashion for a chainstore. They just don't do ad campaigns like this in Australia. All we get is the model of the moment for a budget store, such as Just Jeans, dancing around to the beat of some drums, whilst accompanied by a shirtless man. And the best we get is Josh Goot for Target. Whoop-di-do. Give me a mini movie and old world classical fashion icon anyday. Make it happen Australia.

Attitude Dude.

I helped sort out goodies, pack and stack clothes and pick out pretty things for people to wear for the big Attitude Magazine shoot on Sunday at GANG.

8:30am was the starting time and man-o-man (loved that TV show) was there a lot to get through!
I can't say too much, but all I can say is wow, it's going to be amazing. The clothes were phenom, the make up by MAC was brilliant, the stylists were great and the models looked like models.

I secretly wanted to take all the MAC makeup and clothes for myself, not to mention the shoes by Wittner which were amazing. It was like being in the Magic Cave at Christmas time but instead of kids loving the rides and seeing Santa, it's for grown ups who love fashion. Let me tell you, I found out why people say working in fashion is exhausting. You're having so much fun doing everything and then bam, you're done and you're ready for bed without another word said.

I am rather glad I had my iPhone handy, due to my camera still being in the sick bay.

I am also rather glad I only caught model Shanna on her side, because you just wait until you see her face - oh my god. Jess Hart eat your heart out. Gap in teeth? check. Legs that go on forever? check. The ability to make an inexpensive outfit look like it belongs in the pages of RUSSH magazine? check. And she's still at school.

Today, I had the task of taking everything back, and whilst my car made me look like a travelling gypsy living from my backseat, I got a good work out carrying all these heavy garments to and fro around town.

Max (the puppy) kept me happy all day. How could you not be happy looking at that face?

Not too sure how the thinspo works when Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen are sitting in front of burgers, but whatever. I think it makes me feel like a burger and fries more than it makes me feel like exercising. Probably not the definition of thinspo.

Crazy adore for Georgia May Jagger and that gap in her teeth, her doe-eyed look and powder white skin. To think that she was the outcome of someone like Mick Jagger... at least she got the Angelina Jolie-esque lips without the ratty hair and drug addiction. I think we'll be seeing a lot more of her this year, and perhaps not only in those terrible 'Get the London look' Rimmel ads. Ew. She's already done a few catwalk struts and high fashion campaigns, but I have a feeling she could be a winner on the big screen.

Speaking of the big screen. Wow, so when did Mila Kunis become incredible? I thought 'Forgetting Sarah Marshall' was good acting aside from her 'That 70's Show' TV gig. But well well well, who came to town. 'Black Swan.' I don't think I know where to start except it's a whole heap of fucked up, and incredible in all the parts that aren't. Mila Kunis + Natalie Portman = a lot of money in pockets. Talk about girl next door. Give me long brown hair and the ability to lose 9kgs to look the spitting image of a ballerina. In the words of Kylie Minogue and not her so well known song, 'You've got me wanting more more more.'

The rest? Well World Peace, Love, whatever tickles your fancy.

This is an issue.

I want everything and anything Isabel Marant is creating at the moment. It's French chic meets Carrie Bradshaw happily walking the streets of New York. This is a video from her last Winter collection and I have to say, I did the sneaky and purchased a piece after it was heavily reduced on my favourite website and Adelaide store thenewguard.com.au

It's called the Gunay jacket, and is seen on the second model in silver and again at around 3:36 in the gold, which is the baby that I snagged for a steal.

Give me strength. I love her ability to make the most casual pieces look effortlessly stylish. And Erin Wasson walking the catwalk thrown in for good measure. Slick pulled back hair, amazing chandelier style earrings, winged eyeliner, leather leather leather, those red cropped pants, and lurex... don't get me started on the lurex. Love it like candy. Well I am just so excited for the weather to cool down (a quick change from when I was longing for warm weather) so I can whip out my gold foiled bomber jacket - gold foil fabric - like lurex, I thought this could be an major issue, but alas, it works brilliantly.

Save some money Sarah (good thing I reject those offers for credit cards) My horoscope said this year would be financially better - I'll keep waiting.

So while I wait, anyone for a hot dog and some baseball? I got the outfit to match.

My new Sportsgirl, Mary Kate meets Lady Gaga heels. Hard to walk in, but I push through knowing Mary Kate lives in towering heels everyday.

I recently fell into a hole. A hole that consisted of Bambi Northwood Blyth and only Bambi.

It got me thinking about my obsession with Bambi, her rake like bod and bushy eyebrows - who really started this trend? I tell you, it took me a while to regain my memory and then boom, it hit me, The Olsen Twins (MK is the ultimate) created this look - they are the masters of this look. And all this time I was blinded by the newcomer.

I have to say, Mary Kate was what made me obsessed with fashion. And looking at her style and my wardrobe you can definitely tell. Black, shapeless pieces of fabric with kooky sunglasses, red lipstick and high platform shoes being my absolute weakness. Hands full of bulky gold and silver rings, beanies and flannel shirts. Me to a tee. Black eyeliner, self cut vintage t-shirts in 3 sizes too big and turban like headpieces. I get happy just talking about such posessions.

It's a shame Adelaide got rid of Starbucks because hell, I'd be there everyday if it meant walking around the mall with a coffee in my try hard MK attire. Cibo doesn't really cut it, but I suppose I can make do.

Sure, people say she wears grandma clothes, or covers herself in what looks like your family room rug from 1960, but all I say is, if you can pull that shit off, do it. If you can pull off the fact you are wearing a shaggy textured jacket that looks like it's from the movie 'Almost Famous' with slept in, ratty non washed hair, high heels and a beanie to a cocktail lounge, do it. If you can smoke Marlboro reds and still look amazing, do it. If you can work red hair, blonde hair, strawberry blonde hair - do it all. Because you can.

Here I was thinking Bambi was onto something new. Shame on you Sarah.

Road.Block

Colour blocking in fashion is a trend where I just don’t know where I sit. There is the chance that putting a turquoise blue high neck tank with a burnt orange 1960’s poodle skirt could look outstanding and like you have stepped off the runway for Pucci, however, there is also a chance you could look like you’ve raided your childhood wardrobe and channelling The Wiggles. Crucial mistake. The type of mistake you wish you hadn’t made when looking back at your old wrinkled photos and wondering why your siblings or boyfriend allowed you to leave the house looking like you were auditioning for Austin Powers.

Grace Coddington can rock the colour block, that is for sure, and as much as everything she touches turns to gold, I don’t think the average Joe or Josephine can successfully pull off this look. Whilst I am an advocate for the colours black and black, I would love to get a bit of colour into my wardrobe but I am not so sure it’s the most flattering trend going around town. How much more flattering than black can you get? Slimming? Check. Timeless? Check. Fuchsia pink and Emerald green block colour bandage dress? It’s a little bit technical and not all that practical.

If I had the luxury of never ending funds don’t get me wrong, I would be all over that pop coloured blazer and multi toned mini skirt, but alas, this is not the case and I just can’t justify wearing an item once or for one season. Maybe one day... but I can only dream of that day.
So if anyone works out how to pull off this seemingly simple trend, let me know. For the moment I’ll just swim amongst my sea of black clothes.

Happy New Years everyone.

to my 20 followers (20 is a nice rounded number) and those who occasionally dabble in reading this blog.

I hope everyone had a great christmas and are settling into the new year with ease (not after all those champagnes and sparkling cocktails, turkey and christmas cake). Sorry for the slack updates but alas, I got in an argument with my camera and well, turns out it just wants to be blank at the moment with a slight strike. So whilst I am saving for a new camera, there may be some shortages of posts and interest. I'll try.

On a more positive note - I got the beauty of a Yves Saint Laurent Arty Enamel ring that I was lusting after from my nearest and dearest man, and after a bit of saving bought myself a rather fab Camilla Kaftan. What can I say - a new year for new posessions.

Whilst my bank account gets lower, I must say the weather is starting to look a little bit like Summer so I am just as happy as Larry right now. Give me some coconut tanning oil, the following items, a phenom tan that resembles that of Rachel Zoe, the body of Elyse Taylor and I'll be screaming for 2012 already.

For now, I'll take it at a slow pace... one step at a time.

"Jog On"

So here we are, it's Summertime, and quite frankly it is a relief to get into my Maxi dresses and out of my biker boots.

The only thing is, while the weather is getting warmer, I seem to be working whenever the sun comes out to play - so currently I am 2/10 on the tanning scale.

Warning: do not apply fake tan if you wish to achieve a real tan (I discovered a few years ago in the sunny Port Douglas that this does not work as when the fake tan washes off... so does your el naturale tan).

Well, cricket is just around the corner and this year it's the Ashes. I couldn't be more excited to sit down and have a pimms with cucumber sticks (and watch some men play with a bat and ball).

All I need now is a new wardrobe and I'll be good to go.

I am hoping that I can find a high and mighty pair of wedges also, as we all know you need comfort for these sporting occasions.

Let's just hope that there is a lot of whats seen above (Austraila getting men out) like there was when I took this shot against India. Everyone seems to have more fun when you're winning.

Okay. I missed the last craze that stormed chainstore Target stores around Australia when Stella McCartney last did a collection. I only heard the horror stories of the line ups, women racing through the doors in the city store and rampaging through the goods delicately hanging from the racks. Fighting each other for pieces, scrambling to pick up any piece of fabric labelled with Stella's name.

Well, second time round, and I feared for the worst. I looked at the collection and found two pieces that I liked.

1. the white lace barely there t-shirt

2. a perspex bangle available in black and white with 'love' written inside in gold.

Leading up to today, I researched where the selected stores were and figured I'd be pretty safe heading out yonder, past the Airport to shop the collection down by the beach. Who would honestly be looking for it there?

Wrong.

One lace t-shirt left at quarter past nine. Luckily, it happened to be my size and was safe guarded by a manequin. Luckily, no one had found the bangles hiding behind the bags either. But I can assure you, people gave me glares as I walked to the change rooms to try on that one top, and when making my way to the counter I was approached.

Annoying shopper: 'Excuse me, are you buying that?'

Me: 'Sure am.'

Crazy crazy town. It's funny though, the pieces that got high advertising on shows such as 'The Morning Show' got snapped up quick smart, while other pieces were barely being touched. Really, I am guilty. Guilty for falling for a top probably barely designed by Stella McCartney and stamped, packed and advertised as her cheap one offs. One offs that the rest of Australia own. Exclusive collection, I am not so sure.

Silly me. Who can say no to a peasant style white lace tee though? Not me, clearly. I just can't wait to hear how stores in Sydney and Melbourne handled the crowds. If you know, update me please.

Ps: Just In! You'll never guess - Stellar McCartney for Target dresses on ebay for wait for it, over $200. Already? Come on guys. You're ludacris if you think that approach will work.

Also, don't give up on ye olde Jetty Surf's of the world - sometimes they hold the key to cheap, plain bathers that no one will ever find, but you. Well, they may now, because I just said to go check these places.

P P P PARKLIFE. HOLLA.

Yes, it's that time of year. Parklife is around, and denim cut offs are selling like hotcross buns at Easter time. There will be more denim at parklife than seen at a double denim party, more black nail polish than at a Marilyn Manson concert and more cropped tops than found at a Bardot dress up party.

Oh, I don't know if I can bare it. Teeny boppers, bopping around with their UDL's and Smirnoff Blacks - krumping to the sounds of Missy Elliot (I may be there for that part), thinking they are the bees knees. If there is one thing I hate, it is wannabee groupies.

All I hope, is that it doesn't rain on Adelaide (despite not raining in Adelaide in the past years we've had La Roux pull out previously- so let's hope Missy doesn't bail)

I'm taking my camera to take some serious snaps. Let's just hope people don't try and channel too much Jess Hart - let's leave denim shorts and biker boots to the professionals.

Today was the most beautiful weather, and it got me thinking. Why does everyone seem to enjoy the warmer weather? For starters, it got me thinking about food. Watermelon, mangoes, light salads, BBQ's and icy cold cocktails and beers. Who wouldn't prefer a gorgeous light dinner out in the back garden, still basking in the sunlight at 6pm vs rugged up eating carbohydrates whilst watching boring weekday TV?

Second, it got me thinking about clothes. Everything comes off in summer (surely this would be a negative point), except everything is so much more fun. Getting rid of the black (not for me) and branching into some mustards, pastels and khaki seems like such a good alternative when you look like you're just come back from St Tropez. Being golden and brown makes everyone feel that little bit more attractive doesn't it? And who doesn't enjoy the task of finding a new pair of bathers for the season? Despite the fact you need to mentally prepare yourself for this task, I enjoy it most when you beat your friend to a pair they have been lusting after all pre season.

Thirdly, and this is the most important point. Why would a girl want to sit and watch the football with boys drinking beers, screaming at each other, throwing their team colours around like they were disposable napkins, when instead they could be enjoying the marquees of the Australian cricket tours, drinking Pimms with cucumber sticks and dressing up in elegant dresses. Let's see - ugly team colour knitted scarves or heels and a maxi?

So after pondering the wonders of Summertime and enjoying every second of sunlight today, I can't wait for what the warmer weather has to offer. As much as I love it when it comes round to my birthday in Winter, tights and boots get old pretty quick.

Attitude Magazine September Issue.

So much fun. I got to help out with the Boys shoot again (as previously mentioned) and loved helping out playing dress ups. Julio equals the coolest boy from Spain ever (just check out how he rocks the long hair - that's impressive)

But the real masterminds behind this cool shoot were Holly Beer and Charlotte Chambers. They are two girls who know how to mix and match prints, fabrics and get sculpture deer antler pieces to look fashion worthy.

Also, yes the picture above Fashion vs Art is fellow blogger Katherine Botten of katherinebotten.blogspot. I can't wait to go to this exhibition coming up in December to see her work. And the organiser is Tafe student and creative genius Matea of machinefilles.blogspot - I can't believe the stuff she can produce with such hard textiles and materials. Crazy stuff. So keep a look out for this exhibition, I know my eyes are peeled.

Thirdly, the 1st year birthday for Rewind recycled fashions. This was shot at GANG hairdresser the night I was there, and let me tell you the stuff was so cute. It was as if Kate Hudson had stepped off the set of 'Almost Famous' (I heart Penny Lane).

I want summer. This issue has got me prepped and ready for warmer weather. I guess now all we have to do is wait. I hate waiting.

I'm not going to lie. I love Minkpinks new collections of swimwear and apparel. Normally I have liked a couple of pieces here and there, but never really got into the swing of a collection like I have with this one. You may ask, is it because Bambi is the face of the brand? Well, it may have been a reason for me to take a second look, but now I am hook, line and sinker.

I have already purchased that cute white blouse you'll find Bambi wearing in the first video, as well as an adorable 80's inspired navy sheer shirt with white polka dots (which reminds me of something my mum used to own - but threw away thinking it would never see the light of day again).

All I am looking for now is the pair of khaki leggings found in the lookbook called Tactical response... knee detail and all, then my wardrobe will be stepping into spring.

Black bathing suit + one piece on Tallulah = let's get ready for summer already. Simply too cute. Plain jane block colour swimwear is the key to looking chic in the sun. Add some bangles, a headscarf and a kaftan and instant style is yours.

Also purchased a pair of the most luxurious Ellery tracksuit pants with bronze zip down the front. All I can say is, tracksuit pants are no longer destined for couch wear. If I get time on the weekend I may take some sneaky photos to share.

The days of Adelaide being a backwater in fashion are dead – we have arrived at fashion central.

The Adelaide fashion scene is constantly changing. It depends on whether you’re into electro dance moves and backwards caps, or the clash of drums and a lick of guitar. As you head down towards the East End of Rundle Street the kids are wearing ripped up stockings, heads half shaved, boots tied up and a whole lot of black and mix match prints. Heading back towards the Mall and you’ll find people moving with the trends, whether it be a nude blazer with jeans and a crisp white shirt, or attempting to channel Jessica Hart in cut off denim shorts and stacked on rings. While Melbourne used to be where the trends first hit the streets, Adelaide has started to earn new fashion credentials. You only have to look down the mall to see that many out there have got it going on.

With the increase in online media, constant references to blogs and the rise of the model, ‘It girls’ such as Erin Wasson, Lara Stone and newcomer Bambi Northwood Blyth have given a new birth to ‘off duty’ relaxed style, where a t-shirt and jeans suffices for a dinner date. While the days of flicking through luxurious magazines is a favourite past time for many Adelaide girls, blogs are becoming an easy way to follow unknown fashionistas around the world.

As little boutiques scattered around Adelaide have begun introducing different pieces and labels away from the chain stores, vintage shopping has also picked up significantly. While rummaging through racks and bins of old, faded and pre loved clothes seemed like a chore to many a few years ago, vintage shopping has become a saviour for those wanting to step outside the fashion circle. Shopping in vintage stores is one way of ensuring your best friend doesn’t buy the same dress or pair of boots as you. Vintage shopping will continue to grow in the Adelaide fashion scene as shops such as Hype and Seek, Clubhouse Lane and online stores such as Gary Pepper Vintage and Claire Inc continue trading with fresh and kooky pieces found from all corners of the earth.

There seems to be less jeans and joggers on the streets of Adelaide and more socks and heels. The people of Adelaide are refining their tastes and becoming more aware of how to look good. I don’t know if girls shopping buddies and boys are becoming more cut throat when something doesn’t go right in the change room, but they are coming out victorious on the other side. Adelaide girls are finally being offered the best of both worlds with the likes of Sportsgirl, past its never ending boho days, and designers such as Lisa Ho and Zimmermann now easily accessible – no trip to Sydney needed.

So when you hear a snide remark on holidays afar about the fashion status in our corner of the earth, tell them to look again.

I am writing to say I am sorry if I offended anyone with my 'Fur F**ks sake" article.
This was written for an opinion article assignment as a part of my journalism degree - and was meant to ruffle feathers (not literally)

I do not support the likes of Cruella DeVil, this article was merely to state that animal activist groups have gone to another level to combat fur in the fashion industry. Although I wear fur, it is an heirloom piece from Italy from my Nonna - I would not purchase fur in today's society.

Fur f**ks sake.

I thought my biggest fear was being mugged on the street. Now I fear being tracked down in my fur jacket and covered in red paint balls by nylon wearing animal activists.

For all I care, anti fur campaigners can stomp around holding their graffiti painted signs protesting against those wearing fur until they are blue in the face. However, fake blood, eggs and tomato throwing seems to be the new weapon of choice.

I think that anti fur campaigners have crossed the line between peaceful campaigning and destructive riots towards the fashion industry. Destroying a piece of designer clothing on the runway seems like more of a sin then wearing fur.

Fashion haters and animal loving individuals don’t need to attend the events that parade such attire. However, in recent times models are seen to be taking the brunt of anti fur campaigners being labeled as ‘scum’ and ‘fur pushers.’ As if words weren’t enough, models have also had to begin dealing with food and other goods being thrown at them during press conferences and fashion events. While they may have fur on their backs, they don’t deserve the labels placed on them unknowingly and based on assumption. For all we know, the models may have the same opinions on fur as those throwing the accusations.

What happened to keeping things civilised and all in good taste? The only thing in good taste coming from the protesters is the food they are hurling at the culprits of this so called crime.

Karl Lagerfeld, chief designer for fashion house Chanel, has been known for using fur in his runway shows. He has declared he thinks the fur fuelled fights are ‘childish,’ and has been caught up in the cross fire of abuse and edible goods on more than one occasion.

Does this mean that these fashion kings and queens are now requiring security guards to take the force of flying pies as well as flying bullets?

It perplexes me as to why fur remains the worst offender while fabrications such as leather and wool seem to get away without a second glance. Should we be expecting anti fur campaigners to take their protests further with years to come, and should those walking down the street in a mohair jumper be worried they too may be the target of animal activists?

Such groups have already established campaigns starring celebrities to endorse no fur, no animal product slogans. I would like to hope this stays in the paper and on the television, and doesn’t bring on another angry tirade, leaving everyday civilians feeling vulnerable.

For an issue that’s been around for years, things have begun to spiral out of control, and it doesn’t look like these new age protesters will be returning to their graffiti painted signs anytime soon.

So while my mobile is programmed to speed dial emergency services, I think the first on my list should be a dry cleaner.

Sorry.Self.Esteem.

Self Esteem is dead.

Seafolly last year was a bit on the boring side. Yes, there was some cute frills, but it seemed a little bit grandma with some of those prints. This year, say no more. I could happily own every piece in this collection. AMAZE-ZING. The two black one pieces - hello gorgeous! The 60's style one piece with it's halter and white outline, and then the other with a zip down the front. Love the zip. So 'We are handsome.' But the one pieces pose a question: Do one pieces really flatter your body more than a two piece?

I think not. Sure, it covers everything up, squeezes everything in. But that's just it- it squeezes everything in and well, can look quite terrible. So while Jess Hart and Samantha Harris have toned, taut stomaches and look phenom in one pieces, I'll be thinking twice before purchasing an all in one. Sorry self esteem - down the drain you go.

Ps- that bra like pink floral bikini worn by JH with sunnies... shot gun. I'll fight you for it.
Pps- I want that straggly looking straw hat (It's half farmer Jethro, half cast away)
Ppps- I want a tan. ASAP. Where is the sun when I need it?

You're still in the running for becoming Australia's Next Top Model.

Yes I have developed favourites. I told you it would get better with time. One girl more so than others, by the name of Joanna. I think this girl could be massive if she pulled through on top of this series. Her slightly buck teeth, long wavy hair and little english accent reminds me of Georgia Jagger. Her body is so phenom, and impressing beauty Megan Gale in a swimwear parade and shoot can only mean good things. She's not bitchy, she's not immature - already two points up in my books.

Another favourite, Kelsey. Although I have my reservations. Yes, she is short, and yes Alex Perry does hate that. You can't deny her good looks and amazing bod though - but is it enough to get her through to the finals? It's a tough one. She has brat tendencies I think, but hell, most girls in that age group are, so I can forgive her for that. She rocks a bathing suit and she rocks baggy boyfriend jeans. Tick and tick. She also rocks a braid across her hair. God I want long hair.

Amanda - dark horse. She could pull this off with that Victoria's Secret body.

Finally the other day I helped out on an Attitude Magazine photoshoot at GANG. Getting to help dress and see some hotties in cool clothes was definitely fun, and all I can say is boys from Spain and long hair look cool in cordruoy. Just wait to you see it. Cute as.

A spoonful of sugar makes the medicine go down.

Okay, so there is no easy way to put this. I am officially in love with every piece in the upcoming collection for One Teaspoon.

I viewed the collections coming out over summer, through from January, February and March. Unreal is what comes to mind. I wasn't a fan of the last few collections (Shanay Hall excluded, she was amazing) but I felt that everything was a bit too heavily studded, and the rest looked a little bit Jay Jays.

I'm over prints and that is why this collection is so beautiful. Clean block colours for t-shirts and dresses, with denim framing the bottom half. Destressed denim, ash gray denim, waxy black denim, you name it. There is just the most incredible cream to the floor overjacket, half dressing gown, half kimono. It's a must on my list.

Did I forget to mention that Bambi was the clothing horse for this collection? Oh how her bushy eyebrows and bony structure makes the clothes drape like they are the most luxurious things around town. She is getting a work out at the moment - Minkpink, Shakuhachi, Sportsgirl Aje collection, Maniamania and to be featured in Ellery's Summer 10/11 collection just to name a few. Hope she has a daily diary, because that's a lot to remember.

Stuck in a rutt.

Hell no. This girl isn't stuck in a rutt. Rachel Rutt is bursting through the fashion world with a bang. Despite her normally soft angelic look, she is easily made up to look fierce and piercing on the runway. Rosemount Fashion Week 2010 saw Rachel Rutt storming the runway for many shows, and shes already filling the pages of Oyster, Grazia and other International magazines. There is a wave of new models coming through at the moment, and she is definitely one to keep your eye on.

I'm thinking the next Gemma Ward. Not to put any pressure on her, but she's already nailing the New York runways, starred in Vogue Italia and has walked in over 18 shows at Rosemount Fashion Week including for Australian designers Romance was Born and Carla Zampatti. I think this is the definition of 'It' model if I've ever heard it.

Stuck in a rutt. I think not.

So effing cool. A girl that can rock long hair and a cropped boy style bob has my vote hands down.

Good.News.Week

As much as I love Miranda Kerr (all hail the first Australian Victoria's Secret Angel) I am so glad to hear that as a result of her marriage to sexy Orlando, one of my all time favourite models is taking her place as the face of David Jones (temporarily, but let's hope it becomes forever). Nicole Trunfio is set to lead all the fashion shows while Mrs Kerr/Bloom takes a little holiday. I must say I think Miranda is a little over exposed, and as much as I love her dimples and phenom bod, Nicole Trunfio is just so amazing - I want her to get a little credit for her good looks too.

So keep an eye out for this half Australian/half Italian beauty.

I know, I've been slack but here is a big one. Post I mean.

So after not viewing Australia's Next Top Model (ye olde masterchef won out) I went and looked at the photoshoots on the Fox8 website and I have to say I am left feeling a little down. What the deuce is going on. There was not one girl that jumped out at me and said, 'hey I have the potential to be Australia's Next Top Model,' and there was certainly no one that said, 'wow I've got weird and wacky features.' Really a bit of a flop this year, but never fear I shall watch on. So much can change in a series of episodes.

Secondly, I have found another online shopping site. After constantly referring to mycatwalk.com, laxfashion.com, frockshop.com, net-a-porter, frockaholics and alike, I have found frolicgirls.com.au. It offers the ranges from Ellery, Sass and Bide, Bec and Bridge and Rachel Gilbert, just to name a few. The new ranges are up and along with the normal brands there are also a few newcomers. Harvey and Miss Unkon. I first heard of Harvey from Shop Til You Drop and look below, a brand offering stylish yet comfortable wear at affordable prices (worn by none other than Bambi - so it's got to be good).

Thirdly, doesn't Bambi look cool with pulled back hair? So slick, literally.

Fourth up on the ladder, I have decided that this Summer I am taking on mint green. If you haven't seen the Camilla and Marc mint green and white striped jumpsuit - it is like a mint slice of heaven. Seriously. But I was thinking mint green plus a nice tan would be super cute, and a bit of lavender or sherbert orange would also be amazing tied in with a block black dress or something along those lines. Trying to grow my nails, so here's to hoping that A. I can do it and B. that someone releases a range of pastel coloured nail polishes.

Okay, I'll let you digest all that.

Mary Kate Olsen is totally amazing and I stumbled across this video on youtube. It's old but hey, I can never get enough of MK so it doesn't phase me. She looks mad cool with that blunt fringe and white blonde hair mixed with such a severe smoky eye. Crazy cool. Do I want a blunt fringe now. Yes. Heavily influenced by celebrity images. Do I also want the Elizabeth and James knuckle ring... Yes. Because I want to own something made by this fashion freak of nature. Amazing. Don't talk, just watch.

If you haven't already gone out and purchased the book 'Influence' by Ashley and Mary Kate Olsen, do it. Not only is it an amazing coffee table book, but packed with interviews from the likes of Margherita Missoni it's a very good read. I can only hope they will release another book in the near future, because I would be ready to pounce on that purchase (despite my current 'non spending' outlook).

Oh, and if you haven't yet gone onto Olsens Anonymous blog... do it. Daily uploads = so cool and inspirational - trust me, you'll never get sick of MK and Ashley.

Frothing at the mouth. bec and bridge summer 2010/2011

Holy smokes. What is this? So the last collection of Bec and Bridge (as much as I loved it) was totally unwearable for the average joe/josephine... This is totally amazing and every piece is wearable. Not too pretentious, not trying to be a copy of something else, not too clingy, just nice lines, good colour scheme and sweet plum lipstick to match. Damn, this not spending until summer thing may not work out so well. Chambray is so plain but so cool and easily dressed up with smoking hair (see above - damn I wish I could do a top knot) and that jumpsuit... although tight fitting, looks amazing. Jumpsuits = comfy goodness in the fashion world (even if they aren't forgiving).

From Australian Idol to Australia's Next Top Model.

My favourite show. I can't deny I love the cat fights, bitching, crazy dieting (or in some cases binge eating) catwalk failures and photoshoot success. It seems to combine everything I love about the fashion industry into one weekly show. Alex Perry, my favourite judge is so brutal when needed and I love his 'subtle' comments to girls if they are eating too much... grabbing the measuring tape is not something I would like swung around my waist on a weekly basis.

I have to say, after viewing the pictures on the Fox8 official ANTM website I am not left inspired by the girls in this years contest. Only one, Chantal, seemed to look the part. Then again, I didn't think Cassi was an oil painting and she turned out to be one of my favourites (despite her fist fights and smoking habits).

Well, I guess for now we've only got the trailer. But I'm counting down the days.

Stay tuned. No doubt I'll give weekly updates on my likes and dislikes. I become rather obsessed.

I can't begin to describe how cool Christine Centenera is. All I can say is, she is my Australian Idol. Forget Guy Sebastian, Forget the one that came after him who was a pack a day smoker, Forget Ricki Lee. This is where it's at. Harper's Bazaar Fashion Editor, and the style to back up her claim to fame. She always looks as if she's just thrown together an outfit (which she probably has with all her knowledge and assumably the largest wardrobe known to mankind), but she always looks chic, never tacky, never a wrong move in the clothing department. A dream job I must say, but I can't imagine too many jobs like this floating around just waiting to be filled. People claw each other over these jobs, and let's face it, I'm currently not the 'clawing' type. I do realise that perhaps I need to start with these fierce and aggressive traits in order to get into the fashion industry, but I am going to attempt the professional way first. If all else fails, pull a Anne Hathaway when she starts to get bitchy in 'The Devil wears Prada.'

Effortlessly cool. I wonder if she's going to retire anytime soon... doubtful. Seriously hopeful, but doubtful. I really want those pants in the third image which semi look like track pants but definitely are not trackpants and look comfy as hell. Who can wear semi trackpants and make them look cool...Christine Centenera raise your hand.

Well well well. Bambi could tell me to wear a potato sack and if it looked semi amazing on her (which it would probably look like Prada) I would buy it in an instant. I am pretty sure I can't say no to things that Bambi wears. And I can't stop saying Bambi because it's such a freaking cool name, so I appologise in advance for the high use of her name.

My next purchase, and I better be able to find it has not only been modelled by Tallulah Morton in the Maurie and Eve lookbook, but is seen in the first image of Bambi (there's that name again). A shirt, plain and simple. But the american flag just sells this for me. It screams 'wear me with denim cut off shorts or skinny leg jeans, wear me as a overdress in summer.' Multiple uses = exactly what I need right now.

I am so happy also with my maurie and eve grey wedges, I will post photos soon. But so comfy and high, almost alien like shoe boot. I don't think I am selling them as well as Bambi sells the clothes she wears but just wait until you see them.

PS - Stephanie Cherry (another young gun in the modelling scene) has shot the Supre tights advertising. Not sure how keen I am on models appearing on the runway stooping to shooting videos for stores like Supre but hey, she still looks pretty. I guess that's the main thing.

PPS - I am trying to toss up names for who will be the Seafolly model this year? Following Miranda Kerr, Jess Hart and Pania Roses of the world, it better be someone swell. I hope it's someone like Ruby Jean Wilson (totally the second on my list to Bambi at the moment), someone young and fresh who is just breaking into the scene. I just love when all the swimwear campaigns start appearing as the weather starts to change.

Girl.crush

Okay so A. this may be a terrible song but I am loving Emma Watson at the moment. I'm not talking her in Harry Potter, I'm talking her in Burberry campaigns, dressed in Chanel. The stylish Emma Watson, not the wizard or witch Emma Watson. This is her boyfriends (George Craig) band who she met on the set of the Burberry campaign featuring all the young and cool 'it brits.' Don't think I am loving him so much, but potentially I am judging him by this one song which may be skewing my perception of him. B. Attempting to find a nice fur coat like this - it's not too long and not too cropped, and despite the fact it's almost the same colour as her hair, I am a fan.

I don't know why but for the three Harry Potter movies I did watch, I hated Emma Watson. Now after separating myself from voldermort, giant snakes and broomstick football I think I am seeing her in a different light. Hell, she is besties with Karl Lagerfeld and Christopher Bailey. Damn her and her english accent and nice side fringe. While I'm not sold on George Craig, her brother is amazing also. Google image that one I tell you.

If there are four things I want right now:

1. An Yves Saint Laurent Art deco ring (I don't care what colour, what shape, I just need one now) Pretty sure I am going to be looking at these hunnies on net-a-porter until I find something that overtakes this strong love I feel for this ring. I keep seeing them everywhere, on Alexa Chung on Sienna Miller, just everywhere and now I want one sitting pretty on my hand too.

2. Karen Walker sunglasses - these cute sunnies have the perfect shape, and that metal bridge across the nose just reminds me of something from the 90's, and well that round frame just makes me think of Mary Kate Olsen which in turn makes me think of effing coolness. Enough said I think.

3. Plum lipstick - So people around town say while they think it is 'tres chic' to wear plum lipstick, boys just don't dig it. Well, I am not wearing it for the boys approval, I just want a deep purple slicked on my lips like my lip balm currently is (which is liberally).

4. While not pictured I am utterly obsessed with a pair of Zimmermann bathers, let me attempt to describe them. High waisted, layers of purple ranging from dark to pastel, structured bra top in deep purple (need I say more after just confessing my love for purple lipstick, these are indeed the perfect accompaniment)

5. I know I said only four but...High, high, high, high wedges (I'm talking super high - I found a pair of 16cm and I need them in my life)

I actually don't know if it's possible - to start with, Bambi looks phenom! She isn't just making waves in the fashion industry, hell, she's causing a fury of bushy eyebrow excitement. Second, so when is Shakuhachi going to fail at producing beautifully different but completely wearable clothes? I just don't see it happening, and this collection for Summer 2011 just proves how on the ball they really are.

There is sheer, there is floral (get me that see through jumpsuit stat), there is lace detail, there is the maxi we all love so much, there is a cute military feel in the cream dress topped with brown belt and those shoes just look a treat. Don't even get me started on the wide leg, almost flare white pants. Amazing - I am only just getting over the flares from Ellery. Visually spectacular.

Lady Gaga has released her short film video clip for 'Alejandro' and it's... I'm speechless. Yes, it may be slightly pornographic at times but we've come to expect this from the white blonde bombshell. While dance sequences resemble that of MJ's thriller, Lady Gaga also plays with black and white vision from 5:40 minutes giving it a very young Madonna feel. Apparently the lady herself explained the clip was about celebrating gay love. Well, she doesn't leave much to the imagination. I adore her, but wow, I wouldn't be letting any child of mine (not that I have any) go and see her show unless they were seriously interested in hearts pierced with pins and dominatrix outfits, which would be seriously unlikely. She is totally Ga-Ga but I guess they say, sex sells.

I know it's stupid.

I can't help but feel happy seeing my name in a magazine. No, not for blogging unfortunately, but I helped out as 'Assistant Stylist' for the 'Boys' photoshoot in the Winter edition of Attitude Magazine, an Adelaide fashion magazine.

Sure, I only helped on a small scale, but it was super cool (yes I just said that) to see all the boys get their hair side swept by James Knight, owner of GANG hairdresser (the most insane place with glossy black floors and turn tables + a gorgeous dog Max who chills there everyday) and then be put into preppy college clothes and broke back mountain vests with double denim.

I guess it gave me a taste of one aspect of working in fashion - by golly gosh how I want to work in a fashion magazine or work for a PR company dealing with such beautiful labels day in, day out. I know it's stupid considering my name measures approximately 2 cm wide and in a font of about 8 but hell, you have to start somewhere right?

Check out the issue - it's a good read, and born and bred right here in South Australia. Who needs Fashion Journal when Attitude exists?

be vain with velvet.

Looking at the 2010 Fall collection for Alexander Wang which was showcased a few months back, I am yet again in love with his ability to set new trends and design perfectly draped and tailored garments to suite the female form.

Velvet leggings - could these be any better? In both midnight black or a rich ruby red, I want both pairs for winter. They almost don't completely taper off at the foot which makes them seem like a pant rather than a legging which is nice.

Oh and that crushed velvet dress - slim line with big see through balloon sleeves with velvet trim... to die for. Gimme gimme gimme.

Caramel oversized coats - Big, Heavy fabric in caramel is my obsession at the moment - re: my post about wanting the Witchery version. Stuff the Witchery version, I'll have AW's version please! These have got cape like sleeves which I adore! I can feel the fabric just looking at it. Perfection.

You really can't begin to imagine how time consuming that draping would be and how easily he makes stiff fabrics look like liquid gold. Unlike some other designers, his draping is never bulky and never takes away from the overall garment, it just adds another dimension and sense of fashion architecture.

With Diane Von Furstenburg as his mentor - you'd expect great things. He certainly delivers.

Side slicked hair? Tick.

Sheer fabric teamed with heavy fabric? Tick.

Tick all the boxes.

Fashion meets Film.

A short film by non other than Karl Lagerfeld himself. I love this, but it hasn't had positive reviews from everyone. Really, there is no story line but hey, when Abbey Lee, Freja, Karl Lagerfeld and the rest of the gang are dancing around, I don't care if there is no story line. How do I get to this club and where is it? It looks like paradise.

This blog cuts out a bit of the subtitles etc, so type it in from Youtube for the full experience. I think it's worth it. Let me know what you think. I think stick to fashion, but an odd film here and there will never hurt. Especially when your star cast are a set of beauties.
